Dude, this is the very definition of piracy.

I'm sorry, but you REALLY need to put more effort into it. Slapping 8-bit instruments over the existing midi doesn't cut it, not to mention you didn't even change the percussion at all. Look at mine for comparison.

Better than that one attempt at King Dedede's theme that I listened to, but could still use some work.

You left out a lot of crucial stuff and added stuff in at the wrong places. Perhaps go on hamienet.com and get a Crazy Motorcycle midi off of there (there's tons), but definitely listen to my second cover, Crazy Moto2cycle, because I did a much better job on that than I did on my first.

I didn't mean to sound like an ass on my review of your Dedede song, but at the time, I was very irritated because a lot more could've been done there. Here, a lot more can still be done, but you've gotten your basic template down and it sounds BETTER.

Pretty good for a first.

Now, I saw that you used a program called "Reason 4," as you called it. Have you considered other music programs, like FL Studio? I use FL Studio myself, and I highly recommend it.

gnar2d2 responds:

yeah i used to rewire Reason into FL, something you might be interested in? idk check it out. alot of DAW's have the rewire capability. i just got my hands on a program called cubase and im gonna start using that with reason rewired into it. Reason doesn't support vst so i figured it was time to use more than 2 synths and a drum machine haha.

thanks for the view :D

I've always loved this.

Yeah, it is loud, but that's what volume control is for XD. Oh well, the way it starts out kinda tells you how loud it'll be, so it's, like, fair warning, listeners!

You did well here. It should be no wonder you got on the top 5 that long while back.

No effort here whatsoever, I swear...

This did not sound good at all. I could tell you are (or were) just getting started with FL Studio, but it really takes talent to make something this bad and make it seem like you think it's the greatest in the world, whether or not that really is what you think. The drums don't flow properly, and in fact, there are almost no drums at all. It's two different synth snares, or perhaps a snare and a kick. The piano's just plain annoying. The guitar has none of the basic effects applied to it that it could've had, which even I had known about when starting out. The synth sound is even more annoying than the piano. There's no effing bass. Need I go on?

This could've been so much better if you had just worked at it. It also would've been better if you had taken a look at all the stuff that FL Studio had, experimented a little, THEN made the song with a few tweaks. Making a lot of stuff in a short time isn't a bad thing per se, but moderation is key to success here; no moderation means that, in general, skill will not develop.

By the way, I happen to know what I'm talking about. I've made crap, I knew it was crap, and I still submitted that crap, so they have a crap score and crap reviews. You want proof? Just take a look at my audio section, and you'll see plenty of crap in my first year.

Could be better.

I honestly don't like it done with a piano. It's been done so much with one that it just gets annoying after a while. Nobody ever has a different take, they just keep trying to make it JUST LIKE THE GAME. -_-

I saw one guy attempt to make a metalized version using FL Studio (I could tell because of the sound of the guitars), and the only thing missing with his was some proper drums, although the bass guitar did pretty well there. I based mine on a midi and his cover, and I'm proud of my work because it turned out the way I wanted it to.

Perhaps if you take a country or bluegrass spin on this song, it might sound better. It's also plausible a techno-type remix would do the song good. Or maybe you could try your own metalized cover. Bottom line is that this style, for me, was old hat a while ago.

On a side note, it sounded kinda grainy like one of those really old records from, say, the Old West times. I'm guessing this is because you had some of the instruments switch notes really quickly while leaving a small delay in between the notes.

DrMackFoxx responds:

Well, this is a cover, not a remix. My and John Weeks' intent is to give these tracks a new feel with different instrumentation and some other minor edits instead of, more or less, rebuilding a classic almost entirely from scratch. The review is appreciated, nonetheless. Thanks. :)

If you looking for a better remake of this track, I would recommend "Sonic 2 - Hillstop" By Hating4AM http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/liste n/379754

Just make sure you remove any spaces from the URL above. I have no idea why spaces are added randomly to URLs around here.

If there's an epitome of badass, this is it!

First game I heard this on was Vital Bloodshed, and the guy couldn't have picked a better song. I can see why they call it the Facemelter genre, and I agree.

Free ten and five. Any chance you could look at some of my stuff?

*comic Heavy Russian accent* I love dis artist!

Very nice. Could've put more energy into the instruments, but the piece is good nonetheless. Check my cover out to see what I'm talking about.

Free ten and five. Oh, and *accent again* nidiskt is baby of babies! WAAAAAHHHH! UWAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!

Ow.

Nice effort, but that really hurt. Try modifying your guitar to be a little bit less abrasive, and turn down the recording volume. Unless some idiot has his headphones on screamer-video level (I don't), then the next one should be fine.
