So by this point, I'm 31 years old. Submissions have quite obviously been sporadic lately, if only because I'm trying to more carefully curate what I put here rather than putting any harebrained piece of crap here to assault someone's ears. I originally put up the post about commissions at the suggestion of my friend HowSplendid, but so far I've turned down money from the one person who has offered to pay me for two reasons. The first is because I never asked for payment from this person. The second is because, even if I had, I'm still not satisfied with what I've thus far put out. And at this point, I now have a third reason:
The piece that I wrote for him has been on my to-do list for seven years.
None of what I've wanted to do has panned out, in no small part because I've had absolutely no idea how to make it work, and likewise no idea how or from where or whom to obtain such knowledge. All I can really do at this point is come up with a plan for the rest of my life that would at least allow me to live off of my own means rather than being financially supported by some third party. Until then, I'm forced to count my blessings, namely my family, my SSI, and my Food Stamps, and grimace at anyone badmouthing me for relying on them at this point in time.
Of which there are a disturbing amount.
For right now, I'll continue making covers and working on original music. After all, I can't improve as an artist is I don't do anything with my tools and experience. I've been itching to make something for Helldivers 2. A Cup of Liber-Tea is such a great song, evocative of much the same general feeling as the Pacific Rim theme. I'm curious as to what I could do with that, and how much I could possibly do just by ear.
